James is an accomplished designer with more than a decade of experience building brands from the ground up. After cutting his teeth at Chen Design Associates in San Francisco, James launched Outerlands, a full-service brand studio specializing in visual identity and website design. He’s developed identities for leading hospitality and destination brands, including Kimpton’s Alton and Marlowe Hotels, Nick's Cove, Black Cat, Pelican Inn and the Presidio, as well as construction and design companies like Service West and Valderde Co. James earned a BA in Industrial Arts from San Francisco State University.
